Seating Concepts: Making the World a Better Place

Seating Concepts is making the preservation of our environment and the sustainability of our communities a top priority. Through responsible management of materials, production processes and social programs, we are doing our part to make the world we live in a better place.

We believe that everything we do affects not only our customers but also our employees and the world at large, so we have developed a Green Task Force to continue to develop ways to help us achieve our mission.

Currently, we implement a Reduce, Reuse and Recycle policy throughout our company. We strive to reduce emissions and waste products: we meet or exceed all requirements for VOC emissions set by the state of Illinois.

Additionally, we work hard to reduce our carbon footprint buy utilizing local materials whenever possible. And we manufacture more than 90% of our products in one location, which reduces excess transportation.

The things we are doing now are only just the beginning. We are setting goals for the future that will make our facilities and products a leader in the industry. Please check back soon to see how we are making our place better for everyone.

Reducing, Reusing and Recycling

• Steel products are made with 20% recycled material and are 100% recyclable
• All scrap steel products are recycled
• Cardboard, office paper and shipping skids are recycled
• More than 85% of materials are cut using CNC machinery, which enables us to use raw materials efficiently and reduce waste
• Blanket-wrapped shipments eliminate the need for much of the standard packaging normally required. The blankets can be reused without any re-manufacturing or recycling

Reducing Emissions and Waste Products

• All products can be made with Green raw materials when specified. (Includes Low Formaldehyde particleboard, green guard certified materials, sustainable forestry products)
• All steel products are cleaned with biodegradable processes that produce no hazardous waste
• Steel aluminum and some wood products are powder coated using a low VOC and low-waste process
• We use water-based glue in more than 80% of our manufacturing processes
• We meet or exceed all requirements for VOC emissions set by the state of Illinois

Ways we Reduce our Carbon Footprint

• We source many of our raw materials from local sources, many within 100 miles of our manufacturing facility
• We manufacture more than 90% of our products in one location, which eliminates many emissions from freight and assembly-type processes
• Full turn-key packages are produced and sent directly to the customer, which eliminates excess transportation and unneeded shipping to consolidators or shipping transfer stations

• Reduce our VOC production to drastically below EPA requirements
• Continue  to increase our use of environmentally friendly and sustainable products in our processes whenever possible
